Friends of The Historic McCormick Farm was formed to increase public awareness and appreciation of this historic site and to encourage financial support for its preservation and interpretation.

Visit and Support the Historic Farm
The McCormick Farm, also known as Walnut Grove, was the family farm of Cyrus Hall McCormick, who improved and patented the mechanical reaper and “brought about the greatest revolution in farming since the invention of the plow." Designated a National Historic Landmark in 1962, the McCormick Farm is owned by Virginia Tech and the historic core is open to the public. The farm is located in northern Rockbridge County and southern Augusta County, Virginia.

"Cyrus McCormick and the Rise of the Megacorps" is by historian Barry Machado, Professor Emeritus of Washington and Lee University, and was published in the most recent volume of the Proceedings of the Rockbridge Historical Society.
